Suddenly inspired after a Saturday morning run, we popped into a cookware shop on Bedford, still sweaty, to buy a blender. Seemed simple enough. Rasmus reached for the prettiest blender in sight, at the tippy top shelf, of course. Before we knew it, the thick glass came crashing down, slashing Rasmus’s finger as he tried to catch it. Blood splattered everywhere. Shocked, we did the polite thing and tried to sop up the blood to no avail. Glances exchanged. We walked out the store backwards, smiling through gritted teeth, Rasmus clenching his hand and they, also fake smiling. All could agree, the sales people were terrified that we'd call a lawyer but we were terrified that we'd have to pay for the $300 blender.
Luckily, we did not. Rasmus even avoided needing stitches (if only by a hairline). And we will never go back that store again. Still needing a blender, however, we did what normal people do and bought it online, away from sharp glass and store hazards. This is what we made to cure the finger.
